Seminars

At DOTS, we conduct regular seminars for those caring for individuals living with Dementia.

The aim of these seminars is providing the skills and knowledge required to give over effective and empathetic care.

We offer a two-hour seminar titled ‘Still Here’, and a half-day seminar.

‘Still Here,’ focuses on acknowledging the individual behind the diagnosis, and is ideal for staff, families, carers and friends of those living with Dementia.

It includes the following subtopics:

-        What is Dementia?

-        What are Needs Based Behaviours?

-        Strategies for dealing with Needs Based Behaviours

-        Creating a Meaningful Life

-        Activity Suggestions and Ideas

-        Self Care for Carers

-        Questions

Our workshops provide practical skills to aid carers in engaging people living with Dementia. We cover how to deal with potentially challenging behaviours, how to de-escalate aggression and how to assist in creating the most meaningful life possible. Workshops are dynamic, require audience participation and include many practical tips and examples.

We offer a range of other seminars and can tailor a workshop to suit the needs of your facility. Contact us to find out more information.
